Battalion Chief Ron Moore is the Training Officer of the McKinney (TX) Fire Department. He is responsible for development, delivery and evaluation of continuing education fire and rescue training program s for the 106-member fire department. McKinney FD protects a growing city of 89,000+ population situated north of the city of Dallas. The uniformed members respond over 6,500 times a year and provide service with 4 paramedic engine companies, 1 paramedic truck company, and 4 mobile intensive care unit ambulances.
Ron is the author of the University of Extrication series, featured each month in Firehouse magazine and is the moderator of the University of Extrication interactive web site on www.firehouse.com/extrication.
Ron has conducted advanced automobile rescue seminars and bus rescue training programs nationwide since 1979. In 1984, he received the International Society of Fire Service Instructors George D. Post Instructor of the Year award for development of the first school bus rescue training program in the United States. In 2000, Ron was awarded the International Association of Fire Chief’s “Excellence in Rescue” award.
He is the author of Vehicle Rescue and Extrication, 2nd edition, a training text published by Mosby Co, and was instrumental in the development of video tape #6 of the Carbuster series entitled School Bus Rescue.
