With new technologies constantly emerging in the automotive and trucking industries, it is important that firefighters, first responders, and anyone who performs extrications stay informed of the latest occupant protection systems installed in today’s vehicles, including the vehicles that they themselves drive on the job.

The RollTek Emergency Response Guide is a training tool that contains information for vehicles equipped with the RollTek Rollover Protection System, now available in fire trucks from Pierce, KME, and Ferrara. Based on extrication methods from the automotive industry, the guide instructs first responders in how to recognize RollTek-equipped vehicles, how to locate the system’s components using RollTek labels and decals, and how to safely deactivate or bypass the system during an emergency extrication.

The RollTek Emergency Response Guide was written by extrication expert Ron Moore, moderator of the University of Extrication interactive web site, and author of the University of Extrication series featured each month in Firehouse magazine.
